VISION AWARDS April 20th

In partnership with Charlotte Center City Partners we will be presenting the Wall of Compassion to the attendees at the 2017 VISION Awards. This event honors the people in our community who are helping grow Charlotte into a dynamic modern city. We are grateful to have the opportunity to share this project with the “movers and shakers” who can really lead the city in a compassionate direction.

WALL OF COMPASSION @ GRACE AME ZION CHURCH now extended through April 30th!

This is our premiere event! Located in the historic Grace AME Zion church building in uptown Charlotte, this event will provide you with an opportunity to hear stories and interact with the Wall of Compassion. Read some of the acts of kindness done during the Blessing Box Campaign, add to the wall, and hear stories from neighbors in Charlotte you wouldn’t normally meet. An evening of compassion and community for the whole family. This event will be a stop on the Uptown Gallery Crawl, so make a night of it and experience Charlotte’s vibrant cultural scene.

GOVERNMENT CENTER May 5th - June 9th

Part of the Government Center’s GovPorch initiative, join us on the plaza in front of the Government Center to interact with the wall, hear spoken word performances based on the acts of kindness found in the Blessing Boxes, and much more!

ROMARE BEARDEN PARK with CHARLOTTE SYMPHONY June 9th

Join us at Romare Bearden Park for an evening of music and compassion. We are partnering with the Charlotte Symphony to display the Wall of Compassion at their Summer Pops concert in Romare Bearden park. Bring the family and a picnic and an enjoy an evening under the lights of uptown!

ART MAKING DAY!!! June 24th & July 8th

Join us as we create works of art celebrating kindness and compassion. 7 different artists are leading workshops where we as a community work side by side to create large works of art made from the thousands of strips of paper that have the acts of kindness written on them. Help make these large public community works of art literally built from kindness! These events are open to the public and are fun for the whole family, so please click on the dates/locations below to sign up!

June 24th @ Spirit Square

 

Charlotte CityScape:

Leigh Williams, Tina Alberni, and Jackie Radford will be leading participants in the creation of a large Charlotte skyline collage made from the acts of kindness.

Blessing Quilt:

Maebeth Hill will be guiding the group to create a large quilt of compassion, built from all the colored strips of paper.

June 24th @ Behailu Academy

 

Bless the Dress:

Bree Stallings will guide participants in weaving the acts of compassion together to form long-trained garments using dress forms.

July 8th @ Charlotte Art League

 

Kindness House:

Kindness starts at home! Brooke Gibbons will  be decorating a doll house with the acts of kindness, and making dolls to populate the home.

Wave of Kindness:

Indrani Gall will be using the strips of paper from the Blessing Boxes to create a large sculptural wave.

July 8th @ NoDa + 28th Creative Arts Studios

 

Community Mural:

Jamil Dyair Steele will be creating a mural emphasizing the diversity of children. Participants will be adding messages from the Blessing Boxes to the mural.

Mandala:

Dana Endsley will be making a 5 foot diameter mandala using handprints from the participants collaged with the acts of kindness from the Blessing Boxes.

Join us at the Knight Gallery in Spirit Square to celebrate the final stage in the Blessing Box Campaign. See how local artists and the community turned acts of kindness into large scale works of art!
